New Toy!!!

Well after drooling over all the Medium Format film cameras that have been used on youtube by great photographers I thought WTH I would love one of those beasts.

Being so used to DSLR’s and SLR’s I put in some time to research what MF would suit me. One that kept popping up was the Pentax 67. Ok so I had a camera in mind, now where to get one from? Again this took a lot of looking and just seeing what was available, eventually I decided on a seller on eBay and bit the bullet. 13 days later I have a Near Mint (looks like it was never used) Pentax 67 with a few add ons.

I am patiently waiting for some 120 film to arrive then I will test it out, first off will just be 10 images around the town I live in to see if the light seals are all immaculate and to get a feel of how the light meter works before venturing out on a few missions that I have planned.

Stay tuned….

NIKON FM

Recently I have been exploring more and more into Film photography, my current film camera is a fully manual Nikon FM V2. Going back to film has been a real challenge, but it has made me slow down and think about what I am doing!

It is a very strange feeling not knowing how the image is going to turn out, and if it turns out at all. Also then there is the surprise of developing that film many months or sometimes years later.

36 exposures are a lot to go through, especially if you want to take carefully thought out shots. Below are some that I took many years ago but have only just got them developed.

As you can see the images have character and I think depth to them.

But one major problem from old Film cameras that can develop is light leaking into the back of the camera from faulty or degraded light seals.

Light seals failed as you can see by the over exposed edges.

But luckily it is easy to fix this issue, and I managed to purchase some adhesive backed felt off eBay for $20AUD. And I fixed the seals out in the Australian bush.

After the repair my old FM camera started shining.

If you have any questions regarding film photography please feel free to comment, I am by no means an expert, but I am learning as I go.

I will also be eventually developing and scanning my own film in the near future (Both B&W & Colour).
